Just posting this here first even though you both probably already know all this information, but if you don't, then hopefully it is useful to you. Will also post this on YODO.

It seems as though information about building an X-hit (5-hit and 6-hit) tp/ws builds seems to be lacking among the 2 handed DDs thanks in part to voidwatch temp item zerging, so here is a guide to make the whole thing much easier to understand requiring little understanding of math.

Let's use an example of making a 5-hit build using an Uguisumaru SAM. First, download ffxicalculator at:

http://www.ffxicalculator.com/

Then go to Statistics -> Delay, selecting your main/sub jobs and inputting your weapon delay. For samurai, max out your stp merits to 5 as well

Input the amount of stp you will use in your ws set. For this set, we will use karieyh sollerets, rajas ring, rose strap, and brutal earring for a total of 15 stp. Then go to Weaponskill TP, pick WS hits and set how many hits of your ws to count towards building your set.

For shoha, its 2 hits at 95% acc will occur 90% of the time, but for resolution, all 5 hits landing at 95% acc will occur only 77% of the time, so it's usually better not to count all of the hits of a high multihit weaponskill as a result. Also, while DA/TA/QA can add more to the tp from weaponskills, it's not suggested to depend on their procs for an xhit build.

In the top right, you will see that shoha will yield an 18 tp return. Now, in the Weaponskill TP, set it to custom, input the ws tp return, and erase all the stp values currently inputted.

Now, input the store tp from your tp set and check to see if the x-hit build is achieved. My personal set includes:

Ugui/Rose//Hagneia
Usu+1/Asperity/Bladeborn/Steelflash
Usu+1/Omodaka/Rajas/Tyrant
Misuuchi/Goading/Unkai+2/Usu+1

According to the tp per hit, it takes 4 autoattacks plus the tp from a previous weaponskill to reach 100 tp, making it a 5 hit build, only requiring that both hits from shoha connect. If the 2nd hit were to miss, then it would take 5 autoattacks instead.

Some additional notes regarding X-hits:

1)For sams without usu+1, but would like to have a 5-hit build, an alternative would be to tp in 51 stp and ws in 18 stp, using the following set and adding hagneia stone to the ws set:

Ugui/Rose//Hagneia
Phorcys/Asperity/Bladeborn/Steelflash
Unkai+2/Karieyh/Rajas/Tyrant
Misuuchi/6/7haste/Unkai+2/Mikinaak
(can use Dynamic+1 to reach 25% haste or 7-haste+ belt to reach the cap 256/1024 haste depending on need for acc)

2) In terms of whether or not one set is better, the only accurate way of determining this is to use the DPS spreadsheets created by Motenten as it depends wholly on what buffs you have and what you are fighting. For example, my 5-hit build is comparable to a high level 6hit build with few buffs, but upon receiving excessive buffs the 6 hit build pulls ahead. From the examples given, it's clear that concessions have to be made (not using ganesha, pole grip, omodaka feet, etc.) but keep in mind reducing the amount of hits from 6 to 5 results in a WS frequency increase of 20%, which helps the case for using a 5-hit.

3) When trying to make an x-hit build, keep in mind of the sacrifices to haste/acc/other stats you are making. For example, always use unkai+2 legs regardless of your build. With capped gear haste, double march+4, haste, and augmented hasso, you reach the 80% delay reduction cap, which helps samurai stay competitive to other DDs. For my build, the main focus was to 5-hit while keeping unkai+2 legs and capping haste.

4) If accuracy is an issue, disregard using a low -hit build if it sacrifices too much accuracy. An x-hit build is pretty useless if you miss excessively.

Let me know of any errors in the guide, and if I have enough time/there is enough interest, I may make a guide for using the DPS spreadsheets as they can be intimidating as well.
